Wisdom And Its Stakes
This sermon on Proverbs 1:20–33 teaches that true wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord and that Lady Wisdom publicly calls all people to turn from folly, promising the Spirit and understanding to those who repent. It warns that persistent rejection of God’s counsel leads to calamity, highlighting the life‑and‑death stakes of heeding or ignoring divine wisdom. Contrasting the emptiness of worldly wisdom with the saving power of Christ (1 Corinthians 1), it explains unbelief as willful suppression of known truth and urges believers to see both kindly non‑Christians and hostile opponents through a biblical lens—neither excusing nor condemning, but praying for mercy while leaving vengeance to God. Finally, it exhorts Christians to heed God’s voice through Scripture, prayer, the Lord’s Table, and the church, trusting his promise that those who listen will dwell secure.
